Audi A4 Recalls

In August 2007, Audi AG recalled about 34, 358 Audi A4 and A6 cars that were loaded with 3.0-liters, 2.8-liters V6, or 1.8-liter turbo engines, in one of the Audi A4 recalls.

August 2007 Audi A4 Recall: Defective Fuel Pumping Action

These engines were found to be defective in pumping the fuel. The reason was the components in these engines could lead to damage to the fuel pump; consequently they did not allowed fuel supply to reach the engine, and resulted in sudden stoppage of engine. On account of the same, the cars with these faulty engines stopped in middle of traffic without a prior warning, which caused severe crashes. Remedy for this problem was simply these components were replaced by dealers.

March 2008 Audi A4 Recall: Safety Issues

During March 2008, in one of the other Audi A4 recalls, Audi AG Audi recalled Audi A4 cars due to defects in safety equipments. The included traction control was not discovered not to be working properly and caused severe road accidents.

This problem was due to inclusions of some of the components in the traction control mechanism. Instead of using hard and high quality components, parts used in this traction control were sensitive and got easily affected by rust before actual miles were run.

About 300, 000 cars participated in this recall. The dealers simply replaced these damaged components with new parts.
